What a wonderful day of sports, fun and friendships we had today. Daisy Inclusive UK, Guide dogs for the blind, Lancastrian HI/VI put on an amazing opportunity for over 50 blind and patricianly sighted children to have a goat several sports that may have never had the opportunity to take part in. The sporting opportunities we delivered where; Goal ball, Athletics, Cricket and Tag-Rugby. The children were put into 4 groups and each had the opportunity to experience the chosen sports. There was participation, determination, motivation and inspiration and most of all there was fun and laughter.
It is important that Grass Roots sports should be fun and engaging; this will give participants the enthusiasm to carry on in whatever sport they enjoy and indeed give them the opportunity to reach their true potential, possibly future paralympians!! The day was an unbelievable success and Daisy would like to thank everyone who made this possible, but most of all big thank you to all the children who made this a day we will remember for a long time, and hopefully next year will be bigger and better.
A special thanks to; all the staff at Daisy UK, Karen Ferguson-Guide dogs for the blind, Helen MacDougall-Lancastrian HI/VI, The Manchester Lions, VI Cricket team, Ruth Walmsley-Manchester Blind Football, Manchester Sports City-for a wonderful venue.
