Disability Hate Crime Training Opportunity

On Friday 29th June Daisy UK will be hosting a Disability Hate Crime training course at Brockman Hall, 1B Snaefell Avenue, Tuebrook, Liverpool, L13 7HA. The course will run from 10am until 4pm; registration will be at 9.30 – 9.45am. The course offers fantastic quality and value for just £49.00 per person. This accredited course includes refreshments throughout the day plus a hearty lunch, unique information packs and certificates. More importantly this course will give you the information and knowledge required for you to address the problem that is disability hate crime. The aim of this training is for participants to understand and recognise incidents of disability hate crime and methods of intervention and support mechanisms. The objectives of the disability hate crime training are as follows:

Understanding the pathways from ignorance to negative actions (‘from bullying to hate crime’).
Disabled people personae and images of vulnerability.
What is disability and terminology?
Communication skill development (a tool for change).
Greater understanding of victims of disability of hate crime (reasons for non disclosure).
Actions and interventions, signposting to services currently available.

Tony Banks has a new book out

Tony Banks, the scottish entrepreneur who helped Daisy UK on the channel 4 tv show “The Secret Millionaire”, has released a new book about his experiences during the falklands war.

“In the late 1970s, wild, eager young Scotsman Tony Banks joined one of the toughest outfits in the British army. The men of the 2nd Battalion of the Parachute Regiment were highly trained but nothing could prepare them for the intensity and ferocity of fighting to liberate the Falkland Islands. Banks and his comrades were plunged into a war of night attacks and vicious close-quarters combat. In Storming the Falklands, Tony Banks gives his vivid, harrowing first-hand account of the bloodiest conflict British troops had faced in years. After the Falklands, Banks suffered years of debilitating combat stress, a battle only recently won when he met his former enemies and laid the demons to rest. ”

Hope you are well and enjoying the sunshine! Daisy Inclusive UK would like to make you aware of our forth coming TV appearances. Firstly on Saturday 10th March 2012 a short clip of us will be shown on Let’s Dance at 7.10pm on BBC1 this will also be repeated on BBC3 at 7pm on Sunday. Our next TV appearance will be shown on Friday 16th March 2012 on BBC1’s The One Show between 7-8pm. Hope you can all tune in to watch us. We appreciate all of your help and support.
